The deadline for the Youth Ambassadors Programs with either Brazil or Argentina & Chile has been extended until Jan. 26th. This is a phenomenal, fully-funded opportunity for high school students and adult mentors to travel abroad for three weeks this spring on an exchange very similar to the exchanges WorldChicago hosts. An online application can be found at: http://wlyap.tumblr.com/apply. An informational flyer can be found here.
Dates: Brazil: April 11 - May 2, 2015; Argentina & Chile: May 27 - June 17, 2015
*Because the dates overlap with the school year, WorldChicago and World Learning can provide documentation of the program's merits to schools. These programs are considered prestigious and educational, and are not tours; participation on one of the programs would be a tremendous asset to a young person’s education and growth.
Youth Leadership Program with Japan & South Korea
WorldChicago will host an all-female delegation of high school students from Japan and South Korea this August for a program on Entrepreneurship, specifically relating to business, environmental protection, and technology. WorldChicago is actively recruiting six Chicago-area female students to participate in the exchange in Chicago alongside their international students. It will be a "day camp" style experience where the Chicago students join their peers in the program every day, approximately 9AM to 5PM. Activities are a mix of meetings with experts and other youth groups, hands-on workshops, volunteer activities, and cultural outings. All international students speak English. The online application can be found at: https://www.regonline.com/builder/site/tab3.aspx?EventID=1660709. Application deadline is Feb. 11. An informational flyer can be found here.
Open to female students ages 15 - 17
Prior knowledge of Japanese or Korean is not required, but interest in the regions/languages is a bonus
Priority given to applicants who are also host families
Hosting Opportunities with WorldChicago
As with previous years, WorldChicago has many openings for school visits and workshops with their international students, as well as opportunities for families to homestay host international students for 1-2 weeks. Look for an announcement (and a new website!) soon.
